WHO IS MAUREEN?

Maureen Valenzuela is a Filipina-American actor, creative artist, and storyteller. Whether it’s behind or in front of the camera, she loves collaborating on different mediums; such as film, theatre, media, music, and art. Through exploring the range of feelings and planning alongside projects within the community, she hopes to bring more representation in sharing more honest narrative stories.

WHEN SHE’S NOT ACTING

Maureen enjoys spending time with her family, friends, and her dog named Hero. She enjoys artistic activities such as photography, creating digital media designs, and even cutting hair (barber-style). When she has free time, she loves to go on adventures, indoor rock climbing, hiking, skating, baking, and playing musical instruments.

HOW SHE STARTED ACTING

She fell in love with acting in her high school theatre, and realized how fun it was to play and dress up as completely different person. Whether it was a villainous character or a character that everyone enjoyed, she found passion in making the audience feel a range of emotions.

Later going into university, she studied Child & Adolescent Development and wanted to go in depth with understanding human experiences and emotions, while also minoring in Theatre Arts. Around this time, she began doing more professional school productions, and eventually branched out to falling in love with film acting and befriending fellow filmmakers. Since graduating college, she has continued to act and collaborate in various film and creative projects, and hopes to continue to do so for a long time.
